When I open Papers2, iStat menu shows an immediate and persisting spike in CPU usage which only goes away when I quit the app. This is not during an import or anything; the program is just sitting there. I have attached a screenshot which shows Papers2 using 194% of CPU resources. I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.6.

    Hi,

I still have the same problem with the CPU usage (as explained above) after installing the newer 2.0.3 version.

I'd like to know whether this is considered to be the normal behavior or if it will be considered for being fixed in a future release.

    Thanks,

A quick CPU spike is normal at starting the app but it should go away quickly.
If it doesn't there are two possible causes:

    1) Papers is still indexing / OCR-ing a lot of your papers, see:
    http://support.mekentosj.com/kb/troubleshooting/high-cpu-and-memory...
This should go away once it's done, this might take up to a few hrs.

    2) You have a fairly large library and you have a) sorted it on authors plus b) set it to only show the last author. This combination is more expensive than other sorting/author name settings.
