The beta version Papers 2.2.23 adds further support for footnotes/endnotes, so that citations can be inserted into footnotes even for in-text styles: http://support.mekentosj.com/kb/how-to/how-to-sign-up-for-beta-vers... (Word 2011 only)

HI Papers,
I was just trying out the Papers 2.0 citation function using Word 2008 for Mac. I am having trouble getting the bibliographic information to appear in a footnote. If I click in the footnote and try to insert the citation from Papers, the citation shorthand in brackets appears in the body text and not in the footnote itself. Is there a way to make the citation appear in the footnote? When I format the bibliography it doesn't put it in the footnote.
Thanks,
James

This comment was split into a new private discussion: Message "There are too many edits" in Word
"Note about insertion of citations in footnotes in Papers 2.2.23 (beta): thanks to Jonathan, we realized support for this only works in Word 2011. I am sorry for this limitation. This is not something we can improve upon at the moment, but we'll look into adding support for Word 2004 and 2008 in a next update."
Hi,
I have updated to Papers 2.3.2, which I use with Word 2011 but I am not able to insert citations in footnotes. It looks like if the citation is in the text it does create one as a footnote is the right style is used. But if the citation is in the footnote and it tries to format citations, the footnotes get corrupted or Word says that "There are too many edits". Is there a way around it? A style to choose from?
Would love some input, thanks.
Kos
