Converting "individual" author names to "institution / organisation" names
I'm having difficulty converting individual author names to institution / organisation names.
E.g. in the UK in health a lot of documents are produced by organisations such as Department of Health, National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence.
When you type in the names to Papers it will see them as individuals and split the name as it sees fit, however when you go to edit that when you change the author type to 'represent institution/organisation' the field names below are changed. However the contents of the previous fields are not removed so they still persist in the name that will appear to the article.
The work around is to remove all data but the 'last' name, then chnage the author type to 'institution/organisation' then change the name on there.
This is messy.

Hi,
First of all, thanks very much for your interest in Papers, and thanks for your feedback.
Because of the Papers2 launch, I am sorry we are experiencing a very high load in support emails, about 10 to 15 times the usual volume. As a result, even though we normally respond within hours, we find ourselves temporarily unable to respond to all of you. We read it all and take notes of issues and feedback, but can't respond individually. We are also adding more tutorials and resources in our support web site, be sure to check things here. We also keep a few of user-generated discussions public if they address a common problem, feel free to chime in on those if you think you can help others as well (and we will make public discussions private when they duplicate other discussions or only add more confusion for incoming users without answering a relevant issue). If your issue or question is not properly answered via these resources, please feel free to send again an email in reponse to this, but please wait a few days if possible to give us time to add more resources and also fix initial bugs or workflow problems of Papers 2.

Thanks for your understanding, and thanks for your feedback, positive or negative, it's always very much appreciated,
Charles

The issue is still active for me.
Even with the procedure above, each time I restart Papers, I have to do it again.

Sorry I had assumed that was a report for Papers1. We'll look into the name editing more carefully for this case. Many thanks for your feedback!

Nope. It's version 2. The whole author naming is a pain in the arse with papers 2.
Ideally you'd have a linked list of authors displayed and it would match on those authors as you typed.
The whole mess would be mitigated if you could merge authors - but you can't :(

Hi Mark,
Indeed, author merging, and author autocompletion will be back in a future update. Thanks for the feedback, and sorry again for the inconvenience in the meantime.

It's not author auto completuon like in the 2.0.0 release I want - that was even more broke. I want to be presented with a list of authors and institutions that I can select from. Ideally in the same Pane - not the pop up one that exists at present. Or if you want to keep the pop out one, at least make it navigable with keyboard - it's no fun importing around 20 documents each week.

I am not sure how that differs from autocompletion?
Are you not able to get the list of author from a repository? An alternative is also to copy all the authors string from the PDF, and then past the whole thing, it will parse the string to create all the authors at once.

Autocomplete attempts to complete the author name from what I type. If I don't like it then I'm stuck, or I correct it and it changes it back.
When given a list I am explicitly telling the software what authors I want.
